Can I take a high-speed train to Xingyi? I don't want to fly domestically if I can avoid it.

Yes — and it's a recent addition. The Pan-Xing high-speed rail line opened on November 28, 2025, finally connecting Xingyi to China's high-speed network. Xingyi's high-speed station is Xingyi South (兴义南站), which sits near Wanfenglin Airport, so arriving by train puts you close to the karst area rather than far from it. From Guiyang, the provincial capital, the ride to Xingyi now takes about two hours — easy enough for a long weekend combined with Huangguoshu or the rest of Guizhou. At the Panzhou end the line links into the Shanghai–Kunming trunk, so trains from eastern China reach Panzhou and connect through to Xingyi. One practical note: Xingyi is a small southwestern city, so expect fewer daily trains than on a Beijing–Shanghai corridor. Book a day or two ahead in peak season. The station area is compact and English support is limited, which is exactly why most visitors pair the train with a local contact — knowing someone who can meet you at Xingyi South, get you to your hotel, and sort your first day makes arrival genuinely smooth. The rail and transfer guides on visitxingyi.com cover which services run, how the station connects to the airport and town, and how to arrange pickup.
