Yes. Xingyi Wanfenglin Airport (ACX) has direct flights from several major Chinese cities, with particularly good service from Shenzhen and Zhuhai. From Hong Kong or Macau, crossing the border to Shenzhen or Zhuhai and flying direct is usually the fastest route in.

Is Xingyi on the way between Yangshuo and Yunnan?

Yes — Xingyi sits almost exactly between Yangshuo/Guilin and Yunnan on southwest China's classic route. Breaking the journey in Xingyi turns one long travel day into two short ones and adds the Wanfenglin karst landscape without the crowds.

How to Get to Xingyi — Trains, Flights and Routes

By high-speed train

Xingyi's HSR station is Xingyi South (兴义南), opened November 2025 on the new Panzhou–Xingyi line. It connects at Panzhou to the Shanghai–Kunming trunk line, which means one-seat or one-change journeys from most of southwest China.

Coming from Hong Kong? There is a catch worth knowing before you book: Guiyang has two high-speed stations, trains to Xingyi leave from Guiyang North, and the Hong Kong service may land you at Guiyang East instead. We have written the route up in full — Hong Kong to Xingyi.

Buying train tickets as a foreigner

Trip.com (English, foreign cards accepted) is the easiest way — small booking fee, tickets linked to your passport.
12306 (the official app/site) now has an English version and accepts foreign passports, but registration is fussier.
No paper ticket needed: your passport is the ticket. Bring it to the station gates.
Book a few days ahead for weekends and Chinese holidays; the line is popular with domestic travellers.

By air

Xingyi Wanfenglin Airport (ACX) sits just outside the city with direct flights from several major cities. Service is direct from Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Zhuhai — with other routes (Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Chongqing and more) varying by season. If no direct flight fits, flying into Guiyang (KWE) or Kunming (KMG) and taking the train works well too. Coming from Hong Kong or Macau? This is the shortcut most travellers miss: cross the border to Shenzhen (from Hong Kong) or Zhuhai (from Macau) and take the direct flight to Xingyi. Door to door it's usually the fastest international route into the karst country.

From the station or airport to town

Taxi / DiDi: Xingyi South station and the airport are both within roughly 20–40 minutes of the city and Wanfenglin. DiDi (China's Uber) works with an international card — set it up before you arrive (see Travel Tips).
City buses connect the station, town and the Wanfenglin scenic area for a few yuan, if you're patient.

The route nobody tells you about

If your China plan includes both Yangshuo/Guilin and Yunnan — the two classic stops of the southwest — look at a map: Xingyi sits almost exactly between them. Breaking the journey here costs you a few extra hours of train time and gives you the karst scenery of Yangshuo with roughly none of the crowds. We think it's the best-value detour in southwest China, but then we would say that.
