Privacy

What we collect, where it sits, and what we never do with it — written to be read rather than to be survived.

The short version. We keep what you send us, on a server we run ourselves. We don't sell it, we don't send marketing, and we run no analytics or advertising trackers of any kind. Card numbers never reach us. Ask us to delete your correspondence and we will.

Who we are

Visit Xingyi is the trading name of Charming Wealth International Holdings Limited, a company registered in Hong Kong. Write to hello@visitxingyi.com about anything on this page.

What we collect

When you email us. Whatever you put in the email — typically your name, your email address, and, if you are arranging something, your dates, your hotel, your flight or train number and sometimes a phone number. Mail to hello@visitxingyi.com is delivered to a mailbox on a server we rent and administer ourselves, and a copy is forwarded to a mailbox we control.

When you apply to be a guide. The form on /join/ collects the name, contact details, English level, skills and availability you enter. It is stored as a file on that same server and emailed to us.

When you read the site. The web server keeps ordinary access logs: your IP address, the page you requested, the page you came from, and your browser's user-agent string. We read these to check the site is working and to understand how people find us.

When you pay us. Card payments are handled by Stripe. Your card number goes to Stripe, not to us — we never see it, receive it or store it. Stripe tells us your name, your email address and that the payment succeeded. Stripe's own privacy policy governs their part.

What we don't do

One thing we do embed — and you should know

Three pages on this site — Attractions, Getting Here and Wanfenglin — embed a Google map so you can see where places actually are. When one of those pages loads, Google receives your IP address and may set its own cookies. That is Google's doing rather than ours, but it happens on our pages, so we would rather tell you than not.

How long we keep things

Honestly: we have no automatic deletion schedule. Correspondence stays in the mailbox, applications stay in their file, and server logs rotate on the ordinary schedule the server software uses. If you would like your correspondence deleted, ask and we will delete it — and tell you when it is done.

What you can ask for

Write to hello@visitxingyi.com and ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. We are a small operation; a real person will read it and do it.
