Asia's flagship art fair returns to the Wan Chai convention centre 25–27 March 2027 — and you buy a ticket the way you would in Basel or Miami.
The 2026 edition showed 240 galleries from 41 countries and territories, 32 of them exhibiting at the fair for the first time, across its Galleries, Insights, Discoveries, Encounters, Conversations and Film sectors. It drew 91,500 visitors over its run, up from 91,000 in 2025 and 75,000 in 2024 — the recovery of Hong Kong's art week is real and measurable. More than half the participating galleries were from the Asia-Pacific, which is the reason to come here rather than to Basel or Miami: the fair is the densest single view of Asian contemporary art anywhere.
2027 prices and ticket types have not been published yet, and neither have the preview and VIP days — in 2026 the fair ran previews before its public days, so expect a similar shape and check before booking flights around a specific day.
What matters for planning is the mechanism rather than the price: sales run online through Art Basel's own shop, priced in Hong Kong dollars, with an English interface, no local phone number and no real-name registration. Peak days do sell out, so book once sales open rather than on arrival.
One caution for anyone reading around: a lot of English travel pages recycle old years' dates and prices for this fair, including sold-out notices from previous editions. The dates above come from Art Basel's own site, read on 22 August 2026.
The convention centre is on the Wan Chai waterfront, under ten minutes' walk from either Exhibition Centre station on the East Rail line or Wan Chai station. From Hong Kong International Airport, the Airport Express to Hong Kong station then the Island line to Wan Chai takes around 40 minutes; a taxi is about 45. If you are arriving from the mainland by high-speed rail at West Kowloon, the East Rail line reaches Exhibition Centre in about 35 minutes.
On entry: Hong Kong is a separate immigration jurisdiction from the mainland — a Chinese visa does not admit you, and you do not generally need one. British citizens get 180 days visa-free; visitors from the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, Korea and most of the EU get 90. Around 170 nationalities enter visa-free for periods between 7 and 180 days. Check the Immigration Department's own page for your passport before travelling.

Preview and VIP days for 2027 have not been announced; in 2026 the fair ran preview days before three public days.
