What is on the calendar

The calendar was released by the Chengdu Municipal Sports Bureau and reported by China Sports Daily on 10 April 2026. It lists 43 tennis events across the year, organised in three tiers — international, national and municipal — and covering professional and amateur play, adults and juniors.

The Chengdu Open, an ATP 250 event, runs from 22 to 29 September and is described as the city's highest-level professional tournament of the year. The 2026 ITF World Tennis Tour Junior Finals follow on 22 to 26 October, closing the season. Below that, national junior ranking tournaments and city-level competitions — including the "Tianfu Cup" and "Zheng Jie Cup" junior series — are spread through the year.

The first half of the year

Chengdu's tennis season has historically been concentrated in autumn. For 2026, an ITF Masters MT100 event comes to the city for the first time, which the bureau presents as filling the previously empty first half of the international calendar. No dates or venue were given for it.

From April to May, the ITF Junior Tour (Chengdu Tianfu event) is held at the Tianfu International Tennis Centre. In July, two further ITF junior events, a J60 and a J100, run back to back at the Sichuan International Tennis Centre. Venues for the Chengdu Open and the Junior Finals were not stated in the announcement.

Getting in

This is where the announcement is least useful to a visitor. It is a calendar release, not a ticketing one, and it says nothing about how spectators attend any of the 43 events.

Specifically, the following are not yet published: ticket prices; when and where tickets go on sale; whether purchase requires a WeChat account, a Chinese mobile number or real-name registration with a Chinese ID; whether overseas passports are accepted for ticket purchase or venue entry; and whether foreign visitors can buy tickets at all. For the amateur and junior competitions, entry requirements and registration deadlines are likewise unpublished, as is any indication of public open or practice days.

Anyone planning a trip around the September or October dates should treat access as an open question and watch for a separate ticketing announcement rather than assume the usual arrangements apply.
