Taipei's November film festival — 6–22 November 2026, with the 63rd Golden Horse Awards on the closing night. English ticketing interface, international cards accepted.
Tickets sell online through Tixcraft, the festival's official ticketing partner. You create a free member account on the Golden Horse site, then use it on the Tixcraft portal. Payment takes Visa, Mastercard, JCB and UnionPay, plus a local mobile-pay app. Both the festival site and the ticketing portal have working English versions.
Set that against the Wuzhen Theatre Festival in Zhejiang, whose tickets sell only through a mainland platform that will not create an account without a mainland mobile number. Same region, same month of the year, same kind of cultural festival — and one of them a foreign visitor can simply buy into.
Two honest caveats. First, the November on-sale date, prices and programme have not been published; for scale, the festival's summer strand charged NT$190–240 a screening in Taipei. Second, the ticketing pages state no restriction on non-Taiwan-ID holders, but they also do not explicitly confirm that a passport number works for account registration — the organisers simply have not addressed it either way.
The festival programmes international and Chinese-language cinema across a fortnight, and the closing weekend carries the awards. The ceremony itself is not publicly ticketed — it is an industry event, broadcast on TTV and streamed internationally, including on Golden Horse's own YouTube channel. Plan for screenings, and watch the ceremony like everyone else.
Also worth knowing so you search for the right thing: Golden Horse runs three separate festivals a year — a Fantasy festival in spring and a Classic festival in summer, as well as this one. When people say “the Golden Horse festival”, they mean November.
The Taipei Music Center sits between two stations on the blue Bannan line: Kunyang (about 600 m, exit 4) and Nangang (about 900 m, exit through the CITYLINK building) — and Nangang is also a high-speed rail and conventional rail hub, so it is easy to reach from anywhere on the west coast. From Taoyuan airport, take the Airport MRT to Taipei Main Station and change to the Bannan line eastbound.
On entry: most western, Japanese and Korean passport holders get 90 days visa-free in Taiwan, and since October 2025 an online arrival card is required before you land. We have not been able to verify the arrival-card portal ourselves — check the immigration site directly before travelling.
Status: The main film festival runs each November; the organisers also stage a Fantasy festival in spring and a Classic festival in summer. Festival 6–22 November 2026; the 63rd Golden Horse Awards ceremony is on Sunday 22 November, red carpet from 17:00 and the ceremony from 18:30. Festival dates, the awards date and the ticketing mechanics are confirmed from the festival's own pages. Not yet published: the November on-sale date, ticket prices, the programme, and the full screening-venue list — the venues page still showed the summer festival's cinemas when we checked.
