Three days of rugby and fancy dress at Kai Tak Stadium, 9–11 April 2027 — and in 2026 it sold 120,000 tickets before the gates opened.
This is not simply another edition. Hong Kong opens the new HSBC SVNS World Championship, a three-event finale that runs Hong Kong, then Valladolid, then Bordeaux, and doubles as part of the qualification pathway to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. The field is twelve men's and twelve women's teams — the eight core series sides plus four promoted — which is a smaller field than 2026's. Fewer teams, higher stakes.
For the 2026 tournament the sequence ran: a priority window for local rugby club members at the start of October, international ticket-and-travel packages through official overseas partners shortly after, a 24-hour early-bird presale in mid-November, and general public sale the following day. There is no ballot — it is first come, first served.
2026 prices, for budgeting: a three-day general admission adult pass was HK$2,250 and a child pass HK$1,100; single days ran HK$550 for the Friday and HK$1,250 for the Saturday or Sunday. Tickets are digital, and staff may ask for proof of identity at the gate.
What that means practically: if you want the weekend, be ready to buy on the day general sale opens rather than closer to the event. Late buyers in 2026 were left with limited single-day tickets on a resale platform. We will update this page when the 2027 on-sale date is announced.
Kai Tak Stadium sits on the old airport runway in Kowloon. Two MTR stations on the Tuen Ma line serve it: Sung Wong Toi (the closer, about five to ten minutes on foot from exit D) and Kai Tak (ten to fifteen). The MTR strengthens services on event days. From the airport, allow about an hour via the Airport Express and a change.
One correction to a thing you may read elsewhere: the tournament moved to Kai Tak from Hong Kong Stadium for the 2025 edition, not recently — 2027 will be its third year at the new ground.
On entry: Hong Kong is a separate immigration jurisdiction from the mainland; a Chinese visa does not admit you here. British citizens get 180 days visa-free, and visitors from the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, Korea and most of the EU get 90. Check the Immigration Department's own list for your passport.
Status: Held annually in spring; recent editions have fallen between late March and mid-April. Dates confirmed on the tournament's own site and by World Rugby. For pattern: the 2026 edition ran 17–19 April and the 2025 edition 28–30 March. Dates and venue are confirmed. Ticketing is not open — the official site says only "ticketing details to follow".
