Home / Getting Here / Shenzhen to Xingyi
There is a direct flight — and it lands beside the karst country, not a long way from it.
Shenzhen is the natural jumping-off point for anyone coming through the Greater Bay Area, including from Hong Kong. The direct Shenzhen → Xingyi flight is about two hours and drops you almost at the door: Xingyi is a small city that unusually has its own airport, Xingyi Wanfenglin Airport (ACX), so there is no long transfer at the far end.
The rail route runs Shenzhen to Guiyang (roughly four to five hours), then a change onto the Guiyang North → Xingyi South train (about two hours) on the Panxing line, which opened in November 2025. Counting the change, it is a long day — realistically six to seven hours door to door.
For most people the flight wins: two hours against six or seven, and no cross-city station change. Take the train only if the flight times do not fit your day, the fare is unusually high, or you would rather see the country roll past. Either way you arrive at the same place — the airport and the high-speed station are next door to each other.
Straightforward for both. Trip.com sells domestic Chinese flights and rail tickets in English and takes foreign cards and passports, for a small fee; the airlines' and railway's own apps also accept foreign passports. No paper train ticket is issued — your passport is the ticket, and for the flight it is simply your ID. Book several days ahead for weekends and Chinese public holidays.
Scenic-area tickets are a separate matter — those run through Chinese apps with real-name registration. Where we have checked on the ground (Maling River Canyon) a foreign passport number works for the advance booking, and we can make it for you. More in Tickets for foreign visitors.
Xingyi South station sits beside the airport, so arriving by plane or by train puts you in nearly the same spot, about twenty minutes from the city and the same again out to the valley. If you land after dark — the taxi rank does not speak English, and nor, usually, does the hotel front desk — we meet flights and trains. From here, two full days covers the valley and Maling River Canyon, the two things Xingyi is known for.
Routes and journey times here were checked in August 2026 against Chinese flight and rail schedules; the direct flight roster and the Xingyi rail line both change with the season, so confirm live schedules when you book.
