Home / Getting Here / Guiyang to Xingyi
The two-hour ride that made this trip possible — which station it leaves from, the transfer trap, and buying the ticket on your passport.
Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou, is the hub the whole province connects through, and Xingyi is no exception. You take a high-speed train from Guiyang to Xingyi South (兴义南) station, and it takes about two hours. The line is the Panxing high-speed railway (盘兴高铁, Panzhou–Xingyi), which opened in November 2025 — the single development that turned Xingyi from a long, tiring road trip into a comfortable half-morning on a train. Many English guides were written before it existed and still describe a five- or six-hour drive; ignore them.
There are several departures a day, but it is not a turn-up-and-go metro — numbers are limited and the line is popular with domestic travellers, so book a few days ahead for weekends and especially for Chinese public holidays (above all National Day, 1–7 October). Check live times and seats on Trip.com; treat any schedule printed in a guide as a rough shape, not gospel.
The same passport-and-app friction shows up again once you're here, for attraction tickets — see tickets for foreigners.
For the Guiyang–Xingyi leg specifically, the train wins: two hours centre-to-centre, cheap, and it drops you 700 m from Xingyi's airport anyway. A flight only makes sense if you can get a direct flight into Xingyi Wanfenglin Airport (ACX) from your origin — good service from Shenzhen and Zhuhai in particular — and skip Guiyang entirely. If you're already routing through Guiyang, stay on the rails. Full options on getting to Xingyi.
Xingyi South station sits about 700 m from Xingyi Wanfenglin Airport — the two are effectively one transport hub, so arriving by train and arriving by plane leave you in almost the same spot. From the station it's roughly 20–30 minutes to the city, and about the same again out to the Wanfenglin valley. A taxi or DiDi (China's Uber, works with an international card once set up — see travel tips) handles the last leg.
