Guangzhou to Xingyi

A direct flight of about two hours — landing beside the karst country, not a long way from it.

The short version. Fly. China Southern flies Guangzhou (CAN) → Xingyi direct in about two hours, and Xingyi's airport is roughly 700 m from Xingyi South high-speed station and 20–30 minutes from both the city and the Wanfenglin valley. The rail alternative — high-speed to Guiyang, then a change onto the Xingyi line — is a six-to-seven-hour day. Frequencies on the direct flight are limited, so check your dates.

By air — the easy way

Guangzhou is the main hub of the Greater Bay Area, and the direct Guangzhou → Xingyi flight (China Southern) is about two hours. It drops you almost at the door: Xingyi is a small city that unusually has its own airport, Xingyi Wanfenglin Airport (ACX), so there is no long transfer at the far end. For a weekend away from the Pearl River Delta, or a quiet couple of days tacked onto a Canton Fair or business trip, it is about as easy as a domestic hop in China gets.

Check the schedule before you fix the day. There are not many flights a day on this route and the timetable shifts with the season, so look it up for your exact dates on Trip.com or a flight app rather than assuming a convenient departure exists. By high-speed train

The rail route runs Guangzhou South to Guiyang (roughly four to four and a half hours), then a change onto the Guiyang North → Xingyi South train (about two hours) on the Panxing line, which opened in November 2025. Counting the change, it is a long day — realistically six to seven hours door to door.

The bit that catches people out: Guiyang has more than one high-speed station. Trains onward to Xingyi leave from Guiyang North 贵阳北. Fly or train?

For most people the flight wins: two hours against six or seven, and no cross-city station change. Take the train only if the flight times do not fit your day, the fare is unusually high, or you would rather see the country roll past. Either way you arrive at the same place — the airport and the high-speed station are next door to each other.

Booking on a foreign passport

Straightforward for both. Trip.com sells domestic Chinese flights and rail tickets in English and takes foreign cards and passports, for a small fee; the airlines' and railway's own apps also accept foreign passports. No paper train ticket is issued — your passport is the ticket, and for the flight it is simply your ID. Book several days ahead for weekends and Chinese public holidays.

Arriving

Xingyi South station sits beside the airport, so arriving by plane or by train puts you in nearly the same spot, about twenty minutes from the city and the same again out to the valley. If you land after dark — the taxi rank does not speak English, and nor, usually, does the hotel front desk — we meet flights and trains.
